Find venue on map | Waking the Woodland Queen Legend tells us that many thousands of years ago, Ana, the gypsy woodland queen was captured by a bad spirit who caused the world to lose its woodland lore and spirits, many of whom went underground. Ana's spirit being absent from the ancient woodlands has meant that old world folklore together with the Keshali woodland folk have been missing from our woods for thousands of years A ritual has been acted out by nomadic gypsies for the reawakening of Ana over many centuries, and is now being re-enacted by the Jal Folk Theatre Company who will be performing this powerful and moving ritual on Saturday 5th September 2009 at the Brighton Unitarian Church, New Road, BN1 1UF in Brighton. The ritual will be part of a full programme including Patrick Jasper Lee in concert and the Sea Gypsies, exotic dance troupe. See events page for fuller details. |
